Edward P. Butler III, BSME, MBA (`87)
Edward Butler earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Trinity College in 1987 and was Tri-captain of the baseball team. His career began with The Torrington Company (Part of Ingersoll-Rand) where he designed, applied, and tested automotive drive-train components for General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Caterpillar, Toyota, and Honda. Shortly after his career began he enrolled in the MBA program at Rensselair Polytechnic Institute and received his MBA in Operations Management in 1992. He has held positions in: Product Design, Application Engineering, Engineering Manager, and Chief Engineer of Technical Problem Solving and Testing.
He later worked for Timken and is currently employed at Seitz Corporation as VP of Engineering and minority owner. He leads a staff of (13) BS, MS, and PhD Mechanical Engineers and is responsible for worldwide engineering of design, analysis/simulation and testing, print/document control, estimating, and strategic planning for the company. His company makes motion control devices in the injection molding industry for customers that are in: Food and beverage equipment, automotive components, medical devices, and office automation equipment. He is certified as: Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Design for Six Sigma, Reliability Engineering, Statistical Engineering, and Lean Manufacturing. He is also responsible for all corporate training in the aforementioned disciplines in which he personally conducts the formal training and maintains the standards of excellence for these disciplines.
